AAPI Victory Fund Statement on Donald Trump’s 2024 Presidential Bid

WASHINGTON — Following former President Donald Trump’s announcement of his third bid for President, the AAPI Victory Fund released the following statement reflecting on the impact his presidency had on AANHPI voter turnout in 2020 and what his run means for the future of the progressive movement.

AAPI Victory Fund CEO and President Brad Jenkins issued the following statement:

“Two years ago, at the height of the pandemic, the AANHPI community was reeling from the effects of then President Donald Trump’s racist and xenophobic rhetoric that contributed to unparalleled levels of anti-Asian hate crimes. It was also thanks to Donald Trump, that the AANHPI electorate utilized their collective power and voted in record-high numbers to make their voices heard in the 2020 election.

“As Donald Trump announces his bid for the 2024 Presidential race, we at the AAPI Victory Fund know that this can only positively impact the unification of the progressive movement. Our community has aided in defeating him, his abhorrent behavior, and his MAGA ilk before, and if called upon, we will do it again.”
